Beach Lifeguard
Donegal Adventure Centre is an official RLSS Training centre. We run
regular Beach Lifeguard Courses Courses.
The National Beach Lifeguard Qualification and the National Pool
Lifeguard Qualification are awarded by the Institute of Qualified
Lifeguards (IQL),and are nationally and internationally recognised as
the essential standards of competence.
Each acts as a passport to employment with swimming pool managers, local
authorities, outdoor centres and holiday companies both here in Ireland
and throughout the world.

The following dates are for the next NBLQ courses in DAC in 2011 but
more may be added due to demand.
Nov 14th-18th (Five Day intensive)
2012
Feb.17-19 and Feb.24-26 (Two Weekends)
Mar.17-19 and Mar 24-26 (Two Weekends)
April 9-13 (Easter Week One Week Intensive)
May 12-14 and 19-21 (Two Weekends)
June 10-12 and June 17-19 (Two Weekends)
Prices are as follows:
New candidate 350 euro
New student candidate 330 euro
Renewal 200 euro
The course requires fitness and you should be
training aerobically now by running/cycling/swimming. You should have
the ability to Swim 400m in 8 minutes and comfortably be able to Run
1000m on entering the course. As much of the course will be held
outdoors I would suggest that when we move to the beach you bring the
following items with you where possible.
1. Wetsuit, swimgear, swim fins, running gear and a number of towels.
1.2. Warm outdoor clothing including head cover.
2.3. Outdoor footwear, runners, booties or old runners for the sea.
3.4. A complete change of clothing and footwear.
4.5. A bright coloured swim hat preferable Yellow NOT Blue or Black.
5.6. Note pad A4, biros etc.,
The Beach Lifeguard manual will be distributed to you on entering the
course and you will be expected to study the book in the evenings after
the course. It would also help if you were to brush up on your LIFE
SUPPORT.
If you presently hold the National Pool Lifeguard Book Qualification
then it is a good idea to refresh your memory on principals of

2.· Duties and the Role of a Lifeguard
3.· Lifesaver v. Lifeguard
4.· First Aid
If you have not covered this material before please do not worry, as it
will form part of the course.
All course fees must be paid in full before start of course.
The Beach Lifeguard course requires you to over 16 years of age
